Description

Position: Business Leader
Location: The Counties Crematorium, Northampton.
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £45,000 - negotiable (depending on experience)

Run a business. Lead people. Do work that matters.

We’re looking for a commercially driven, people-focused Business Leader to take full ownership of one of our Crematoria sites - The Counties Crematorium in Northampton.

This is a true general management role with autonomy, variety, and purpose. You’ll lead a multi-skilled team, deliver improvement projects, grow commercial performance, and be the visible leader in your local community — all while ensuring families receive exceptional care at life’s most important moments.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning the overall performance of your crematorium — commercially, operationally, and culturally
  • Leading, developing, and motivating a cross-functional team, setting clear expectations and coaching for performance
  • Driving growth across cremation volumes and memorial sales with full P&L accountability
  • Planning and delivering site-level projects and improvements that enhance service, efficiency, and revenue
  • Building strong, trusted B2B relationships with local funeral directors
  • Acting as the face of your site within the community, leading engagement and local initiatives
  • Maintaining exceptional standards across customer experience, compliance, and site presentation
  • Ensure compliance with FCA standards for all pre-need funeral and memorial plans

What we’re looking for

  • Proven general management experience (hospitality, retail, leisure, care, bereavement, or similar)
  • Strong people leadership capability — you know how to build engagement, manage performance, and develop others
  • Commercial confidence, including managing budgets, targets, and KPIs
  • Experience leading projects, change, or continuous improvement initiatives
  • A calm, compassionate communicator who leads with integrity and resilience

Why join us?

  • £45k salary, negotiable depending on experience
  • Bupa private healthcare
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Company pension, life assurance, and employee assistance programme
  • Real autonomy — run your site like a business, not a checklist
  • A leadership role with purpose, impact, and visibility
  • The chance to build a great team and make a meaningful difference in your community
  • Support from a strong regional structure, with freedom to lead locally
  • Annual Bonus
