We're looking for an empathetic, well-organised individual to join our team at Titford Funeral Directors, Frinton on Sea  as a Funeral Service Specialist (Level One). You'll take the lead in running the branch day to day, supporting families and building trusted local relationships, with training to guide families through Funeral Plans and support ceremonial duties when needed.

Our Mission: To help every family in Britain navigate the hardest moments of life with simplicity, dignity, kindness and exceptional care.

Our Vision: The UK's leading end-of-life company, helping 1 in 3 people across the UK to plan for and deal with death.

Why This Role Matters

Being a Funeral Service Specialist means playing a central part in one of life's most significant moments. You're often the first person a grieving family turns to, and your presence can shape how they remember the most difficult of days.

Your Impact and Responsibilities

This role calls for empathy, confidence and attention to detail — guiding people through funeral arrangements with care, introducing the support we offer, and making sure every detail is taken care of.

As a Funeral Services Specialist, you will:

  • Support families with empathy, professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Arrange funerals that meet family wishes, cultural practices and legal requirements, with clarity, compassion and precision.
  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations, including administration and presentation.
  • Build relationships with suppliers, care homes and local community groups — including ministers, celebrants and florists.
  • Lead chapel visits as required, supporting families with their requests.
  • Raise awareness of funeral plans and contribute to plan sales within the branch.
  • Train in Funeral Conducting to assist with ceremonial duties during peak times.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Compassionate, calm and empathetic in emotionally sensitive situations.
  • Experience in customer service, care or admin is beneficial (full training provided).
  • Strong communication, organisation and administrative skills, confident with legal paperwork.
  • PC literate — Microsoft Office, Outlook and internal systems (training provided).
  • Confident working independently with branch-level responsibility.
  • Comfortable in settings where the deceased may be resting, including chapel visits.
  • Willing to work flexibly, including weekends/on-call if needed.
  • Full UK Driving Licence desirable (not essential) — helpful for travelling to client homes and local branches.

What you can expect from us

  • Time to recharge – Up to 25 days' annual leave (rising with service) plus bank holidays.
  • Extra reward – Yearly bonus of £300–£500.
  • Funeral Plan Commission – Up to £2,000 OTE per annum through funeral plan sales.
  • Planning for your future – 4% matched pension.
  • Peace of mind – Life assurance at 2x salary.
  • Everyday savings – MyStaffShop discounts, eyecare support and flu jab reimbursement.
  • Support when you need it – 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, occupational health and confidential counselling.
  • Learn and grow – Ongoing training, internal learning pathways and apprenticeships.
  • Making work easier – Free on-site parking at most locations.

What Sets Us Apart

  • Meaningful purpose – Supporting families through the hardest moments of their lives.
  • Grow with us – More career paths and leadership opportunities as our group grows.
  • Shape the future – Help us become the UK's number one end-of-life provider and see the difference it makes.
